Employee Wage and Benefit Fee

The Employee Wage and Benefit Fee approved by the Department of Aviation (DOA) in March 2024 allows concessions operators at PHL to charge a fee of up to 3% of the transaction to offset the employee wages and benefits requirements.

This is not a gratuity paid directly to staff.

Why don’t all stores at PHL add the fee?

Certain operators are not permitted to per franchise agreements or corporate mandates.

Some operators simply choose not to.

Each operator is required to clearly post and declare that they are imposing this charge in a variety of ways, including but not limited to point-of-sale register counter cards and on all printed receipts.

Each operator determines what rate to charge up to the allowed maximum, currently 3%.
